When Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp in May 2016, she feared for her life, the actress said Monday.
Actress Amber Heard, 36, told the jury during her ex-defamation husband’s trial that she had to leave him because she couldn’t live with him anymore. “I knew that I wouldn’t be able to live if I didn’t.”
“I was terrified that something terrible would happen to me,” she explains.
Actress Heard said filing for divorce “felt like the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do.” “I had done everything I could to make this relationship work.”
Her words, “It was hard because I loved Johnny so much” sum up her feelings perfectly. “I was so in love with him.”
His efforts to curb his drug and alcohol addiction had failed, according to Heard, who said he would turn into “a monster” if he drank excessively.
As a result, “the monster” had become “the rule rather than the exception,” she claimed. “Violence has become the norm.”
A week after filing for divorce, Heard requested a temporary protective order against Johnny Depp after he hurled a mobile phone at her, hitting her in the face during an argument, Heard said.
On the witness stand, Depp, 58, denied ever striking Heard and said that it was she who was violently outbursts during his four-day testimony.
Depp is suing Heard for an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in December 2018 in which she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic violence.”
Heard, who starred in the movie “Aquaman,” did not identify Johnny Depp in the op-ed, but he is suing her for $50 million in damages for implying that he was a domestic abuser.
Heard, a native of Texas, countersued, saying she was subjected to “rampant physical aggression and abuse.”

The couple had been staying at a chateau in France when an incident occurred, and Heard described it in detail.
Pre-release trailers of “London Fields,” in which she appeared, had a sex scene “unbeknownst to me,” she stated, via the New York Daily News.
She remarked, “Johnny freaked out because it resembled me.” A jealous man has already expressed displeasure at my breaching the restriction of not having a sex scene with him.
“I’m going to tell him it wasn’t me. It wasn’t my scene, she insisted. In his fury, he accused me of being a whore, lying, and a hypocrite.”
She narrated what she had to say. She was smacked and assaulted in the jaw by Johnny Depp.
After completing their questioning of Heard on Monday, Depp’s defense team is likely to cross-examine the actress.
It’s slated to go to trial on May 27, and closing arguments are scheduled for May 27.
Actor Johnny Depp’s legal team has put specialists on the stand who testified that he has lost millions, including a $22.5 million payment for the sixth chapter of “Pirates.”
In November 2020, Depp sued The Sun for labeling him a “wife-beater,” and he lost. He then initiated a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper in the United States.
They met during the shooting of “The Rum Diary” in 2009 and were married in February 2015; Depp is a three-time Oscar nominee. Two years later, their divorce was formalized.
